After Here chronicles the journey of Joe Golden from his fatal car accident through heaven. Both Joe and the reader pass through the seasons of the year, which are artfully captured in vivid, descriptive imagery, through which they meet people both familiar to Joe and those who are not who have passed before him. However, Joe is on a mission-finding his beloved wife who had passed away one year prior to his death.
